Mary Poppins Vacation Bag

When my sisters and I were little, my mom started a fun tradition of packing a bag with fun snacks, small toys, and games that she would give out throughout our road trips. Over the years, I’ve started to remember it as her “Mary Poppins Bag,” because it always seemed so magical and exciting!

Our family vacation is coming up (we will be enjoying time at the beach), so I’ve begun prepping our own bag of goodies. At Dollar Tree, I found a variety of fun items like slinkies, wooden paint kits, air-dry clay, and small, colorful journals. I also picked up some small treats we don’t normally have around the house.

In addition to the Mary Poppins bag, I put together some quiet time activities that I slid into my kids’ library bags. Even though the kids are getting older, we like to maintain some scheduled downtime!

I also have a few books picked out as our vacation read-alouds, and I know this will be a memorable experience for our family 💕. We read "Beach House" before the trip to get excited about our time at the beach!

These are just a few ideas to spice up “quiet time” and car trips if you're enjoying a little getaway this summer!
